Oldest Recording Found!28/03/2008

So we heard on the Radio 1 (from Dominic Byrne, news reader extraordinaire) that the oldest recording of a human voice had been found. Reuters reports it as being from 1860, a girl sings Au clair de la lune. Chris and Dave from the Chris Moyles Breakfast show said it sounds like the Flake advert personally i think it just sounds eary. Anway Mark and I relayed the story to the rest of the office and attempted to find the recording, eventually after much traulling we found it here. Gizmodo put it quite well adding pictures. We decided to see if it really did sound like the the song and prompty found a more current version here. Mixing the two was particularly entertaining. On my travels i also found the lyrics which where rather amusing: lyrics. I quite liked the bit:
"Under the moonlight
Nice Lubin
Knocks at the brunette's door
She suddenly replies
Who's knocking this way
He says in his turn
Open your door
To the god of love."
It explains a lot about French culture, "Open you door to the god of love"! However the best thing that turned up on this hunt was this. Run it on a bit then play the 1860 recording...it's gonna be the next big thing mark my words!

Let's go Panthers!18/02/2008

McAslan Shirt
6-1 against the Steelers what a result! Saturday afternoon saw a few of us from work travel up to Nottingham to watch the Panthers and what a match it was. Mark got us the box again and we saw the Panthers hammer the stealers! It took them 3 goals to reply! Superb, I still have a small problem however with the Panthers celebration (waving your arms up and down to The Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger) YouTube, you can just about see it on that video. Mainly because this is the same as the baggies celebrate though its made slightly more tolerable by the fact Wolves Speedway also celebrate winning a race this way so all in all 2 against one I think the baggies loose (theres a shocker!). This match had it all though; goals, fights, even blood on the ice (i kid you not!), thankfully I think it was a Steeler that fell flat on his face and smacked his nose.

I think everyone went home happy bar the Steelers fans, incidentally in the box next to us where 4 Sheffield fans. They didnt look happy being sandwiched in between 2 boxes full of Nottingham fans! Mainly because as ever eveyone got into it and the lot of us where shouting when we won!

Also on the way home Mark managed to get us a shout out on Heart FM (Nottingham - 106.0). We even managed to record it.

Shout out

My Proper Most Haunted Experience!19/01/2008

Ok so I?m standing in the bedroom, tigger is out on the landing, no one else is in the house and I hear this eerie midi circus tune...I look at tigger, tigger looks at me. I pass it off as the door bell, we have one of those plug in ones where you can choose daft tunes. I have a look out the window and there?s no one there, that?s odd. Now I?m slightly disturbed. J gets back shortly after and we investigate, he tries our door bell and nothing, not working. Getting more freaked out. So he unplugs it and plugs it back in, rings it and it works but with a normal doorbell sound. SO WHERE DID THE FREAKY CIRCUS MUSIC ORIGINATE!?!??!?!

Well sorry to disappoint but we worked out it must be that someone nearby has a similar doorbell and it works on the same frequency, they set it to that weird tune (why ill never know!) which explains why we had to plug ours back in to get it to work. It also has the funny circus tune on it. Still scary at the time!
